I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed reading and how much I appreciated Bill Marx's letter ("Confederate Flag Wavers Here Proudly Display Their Ignorance," Aug. 22). He so well put into words the very thoughts that I have every time that I see the Confederate flag displayed, usually in the form of a license plate or T-shirt, here in the Pittsburgh area.
Pennsylvanians served in greater numbers in the Union army than those of any other state, and almost all families with ties to Pennsylvania have an ancestor or relative who directly fought for or served in the Union cause. To display that flag most certainly is a display of ignorance, support of treason against your country and support for the evils of slavery and racism.
