James T. Patterson, senior vice president of procurement, CentiMark Corp., was elected to serve a two-year term on the board for the National Roofing Contractors Association.

Srinivas Murali, director of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at West Penn Allegheny Health System joined the board of governors of the American College of Cardiology as the governor of the Western Pennsylvania chapter.

Gerald D. Holder, US Steel dean of engineering at the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering, was elected vice chair of the Engineering Deans Council Executive Board of the American Society of Engineering Educators.

The Pennsylvania Dental Association appointed Donald Hoffman, a faculty member at Pitt's School of Dental Medicine, as its new president.

SMC Business Councils hired Chris Heck as the manager of membership and business development.

Credit Union

Washington Community Federal Credit Union hired two new tellers: Jordan Kern and Allison Livingston.

Design

PWCampbell hired Deidre Cibelli, lead creative designer, retail branding group; Ben Mahtani, information technology director. Mitchell Leech joins PWCampbell's partner architectural, engineering and design firm Studio 109 Designs, as an architectural project manager.

David R. Beaupre was named vice president for management and business at Duquesne University, effective July 1. He is currently the associate vice president of finance at Loyola University Maryland.

Engineering

Architect Michael Corb was named leader of Stantec's education practice, encompassing both K-12 and higher education, in the Western Pennsylvania region.

Health Care

TMG Health promoted Deanne Braksator to vice president of product development and product management.

Hospitality

Cura Hospitality appointed Chris Fitz to director of retail and culinary services.

Nonprofit

United Way of Allegheny County named Julie DeSeyn as director of community impact.

The Y of Greater Pittsburgh announced that Michael J. Malone is the new chairman of its Metropolitan board of directors.

Dunn Real Estate Services said Michael Dunn joined as a sales representative.

Restaurant

Michael Branigan has joined artisan frozen treat chain Bruster's Real Ice Cream as vice president of marketing and product innovation.

Technology

Management Science Associates Inc. promoted Susan Buchman to chief data scientist.

Awards and Honors

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's board of trustees recognized Karen Derzic, president of the Friends of CLP - Woods Run and secretary of the CLP-Friends Council, as its 2012 Community Advocate. The annual award recognizes outstanding and deserving community members who demonstrate a commitment to further the mission and vision of the library.

Jamie and Ali McMutrie, founders and co-presidents of Haitian Families First, have been awarded the 2012 Norman Borlaug Humanitarian Award by MedAssets Inc., a Georgia-based company that provides management solutions to thousands of hospitals and other health care providers. The sisters first caught the attention of the world following their dramatic rescue of dozens of Haitian children following Haiti's 2010 earthquake, and have continued their work with Haitian families and children since. Norman Borlaug is one of six people to have won the Nobel Peace Prize, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal. The Norman Borlaug Humanitarian Award, presented annually by MedAssets, recognizes an ambitious desire and determination of individuals to address unmet needs in the world by helping communities and those less fortunate.
