Puzzling editorials, endorsements

The reasoning behind the endorsements of both Scott Wagner and Rep. Keith Rothfus is puzzling (Oct. 31, “For Governor: Wagner” and Nov. 2, “For Congress: Rothfus”).

To suggest that the reason to vote for Mr. Wagner is that he is not Gov. Tom Wolf and that Mr. Wolf did not accomplish any “exciting” accomplishments seems spurious. One wonders what constitutes an “exciting” accomplishment?

Claiming that Rep. Conor Lamb is gifted and likable but his fault is that he cannot single-handedly vote out Nancy Pelosi is a stretch. There was no mention that Mr. Lamb co-authored (with a Republican) a bill to combat opioid addiction, which was passed and signed by the president, and he has only been in office for six months.

There was also no mention that Mr. Rothfus is funded by the NRA and that he has claimed that new gun reform laws will do nothing to prevent further massacres. Further, he is funded by corporate PACs, whereas Mr. Lamb is largely funded by individual donations that average $28, showing strong community support.
