Two killed in Derry head-on collision

Two men were killed after a van and a car collided head-on in Westmoreland County yesterday afternoon.

Authorities said a volunteer firefighter also was injured when his fire truck heading to the accident hit a sport utility vehicle that was making a U-turn to get away from traffic. The firefighter was airlifted to a hospital. His condition was not available last night.

State police said the head-on collision happened along Route 22 in Derry. The victims names were not immediately released.
