Ten layoffs part of budget process in Moon Area

School directors at Moon Area on Monday approved the elimination of 10 positions in an effort to finalize its 2012-2013 budget.

Layoff notices will be sent to eight elementary teachers; a special education employee and a business, computer and information technology employee. Some or all of these cuts could be reversed once the budget is completed. Directors are attempting to pass this budget without tax increase and will consider a final budget on May 21.
