Ansys to merge with with San Diego-based Reaction Design

Southpointe-based engineering-simulation technology company Ansys announced it has reached a deal to integrate a San Diego-based clean technology simulation company into its portfolio.

Ansys announced it has reached a definitive merger agreement with Reaction Design, a developer of chemistry simulation software. Officials did not immediately provide details regarding the transaction, expected to close in January, but said in a press release that they will be revealed once the deal goes through.

Reaction Design, which uses its chemistry simulation software to help transportation and energy companies develop clean technologies, will supplement Ansys' computational fluid dynamics solutions to create a product unmatched in its class, according to Ansys officials.

"We've admired the work Ansys has done over the last 40 years in helping customers to realize their product promise," he said.in the release. "I have no doubt that we'll be able to add greater value to Ansys and to its customers."
