The North Hills DUI Task Force and the Pennsylvania State Police conducted sobriety checkpoints from late Friday into early today in West View and Ebensburg, respectively, netting a total of 10 arrests for driving under the influence.
In West View, 272 that passed through the checkpoint and 17 drivers were administered field sobriety tests. Seven drivers were arrested for DUI, two were arrested because of a drug recognition evaluation and one was charged with driving under 21 years of age.
Also, there were single arrests for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia; three arrests for underage drinking; two citations for driving under suspension; five citations for various vehicle code violations; and three warnings for not wearing a seatbelt.
The North Hills DUI Task Force is comprised of officers from the police departments of Etna, Indiana, Northern Regional, O'Hara, Ross, Shaler, West Deer and West View.
In Ebensburg, 84 motorists passed through the checkpoint and three were arrested for DUI. Also, eight citations for various infractions wre issued as were 72 warnings.
