A woman was carjacked at gunpoint Saturday afternoon in Perry North and forced to drive to an East Liberty ATM and withdraw money, police said today.
The woman, whose identity police did not release, was leaving Schorr Bakery, 3912 Perrysville Ave., around 1 p.m., when an armed man entered the back of her unlocked car, Pittsburgh police Major Crimes Cmdr. RaShall Brackney said.
He forced her to drive from the North Side into Downtown and then to East Liberty, where the suspect made the woman withdraw money from an ATM near Baum Boulevard, the commander said.
She was released on Livery Way in East Liberty, where she flagged down passersby for assistance. Her Chevy Equinox was taken, but has since been recovered by police and is being processed for evidence.
