Fugitive task force chases down suspect

The Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force arrested a Washington County man this morning on attempted homicide and aggravated assault charges. Richard Pruden, 23, was wanted in an incident June 14 in a Motel 6 parking lot in South Strabane. According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Mr. Pruden and another man attacked a person with fists and a knife. The victim suffered massive, life-threatening blood loss, police said. A warrant for Mr. Pruden was issued June 17. The fugitive task force and Southwest Mercer County Regional Police developed information that Mr. Pruden was in the Sharon and Farrell areas, where he has family. After doing surveillance, they went to arrest him at a home in the 900 block of Roemer Boulevard about 11 a.m. today. Police said Mr. Pruden jumped out of a second-story window, but he was caught after a short chase. He is being held in the Mercer County Jail on charges of attempted homicide and aggravated assault.
