GROVE CITY, Pa. -- A man who claimed he was getting numerous unsolicited calls on his cell phone was shot when he confronted the alleged caller, state police said.
Daniel Metheney, 22, of Grove City, was shot in the stomach Saturday evening after driving to a house in nearby Pine Township to see Christin Ross Wilson, police said.
"Wilson had made a series of unsolicited phone calls and Metheney just wanted the phone calls to stop," Trooper Michael Kokoski said.
The calls began several days earlier; the last call came about 30 minutes before Mr. Metheney went to confront Mr. Wilson, police said.
During the heated confrontation, Mr. Wilson, 24, went inside, returned with a pistol and when Mr. Metheney allegedly approached him, Mr. Wilson fired a single shot, hitting Mr. Metheney, police said. Mr. Wilson went back inside and called 911, police said.
Mr. Metheney was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, police said.
Police charged Mr. Wilson with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and terroristic threats. A phone number for Wilson could not be immediately found. It was not known if he had an attorney.
