Damian Bradford will not yet get back his jewelry, towels, toiletries and $950 in cash, seized when police searched his Center Township, Beaver County, apartment May 20 in connection with the May 13 Ohio murder of Mercer County doctor Gulam Moonda.
Beaver County Common Pleas Judge John D. McBride late yesterday filed his denial of a petition for the items' return, a petition which was based on the fact that Mr. Bradford had not been charged in the murder or even named as a suspect. He had been termed a "person of interest" based on his link with Dr. Moonda's wife, Donna Moonda, whom he met in drug rehab.
The judge's reason was a letter from authorities saying Bradford is still under investigation for the murder and asking the local court to hold the items. The letter was presented at a hearing on the petition March 2.
Mr. Bradford was held on charges of possession of anabolic steroids, pleaded guilty in September and was released Nov. 22 after serving his time on the charge. He was later charged with assaulting a police officer in Allegheny County and is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
