Free admission this Sunday to the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, the Sen. John Heinz History Center and the Carnegie Museum of Art and Carnegie Museum of Natural History are among the perks of RADical Days, the 15th annual celebration of organizations funded by the Allegheny Regional Asset District.
It offers free admission to 45 events and places through Oct. 9.
Under the RADical Days banner is the fall Gallery Crawl, presented by The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust in the Cultural District, Downtown, Friday from 5:30 to 10 p.m., with art exhibitions, films, live music, comedy and dance performances.
As part of the crawl, Wood Street Galleries at 601 Wood St. will open the installation “data.matrix” by Japanese electronic composer and visual artist Ryoji Ikeda, plus a special performance work “supercodex (live set)” at the Trust Arts Education Center, at 10:30 p.m. ($10).
The Lantern Building, at 600 Liberty Ave., is the Re:NEW Festival Headquarters with exhibits and programs related to creative reuse, sustainability and transformation; www.renewfestival.com. The Re:NEW Festival Juried Exhibition, featuring works by 21 artists from southwestern Pennsylvania, is at 623 Smithfield St.
SPACE, 812 Liberty Ave., presents CSA PGH Small Mall with artists selling their prints, ceramic objects, clothing and more, plus music by DJ COCO BEE and PGH CREPES.
The Harris Theater, 809 Liberty Ave., will screen local short films with love for John Waters, and the Arcade Comedy Theater, 811 Liberty Ave., will have live improv comedy every half-hour.
The August Wilson Center, 980 Liberty Ave., exhibits “From MLK to March: Civil Rights in Comics and Cartoons,” presented by the ToonSeum, highlighting the little-known comic books and editorial cartoons of the civil rights era.
