Authorities in Washington County executed two search warrants in 16 hours, netting 54 bricks of heroin, pills and guns, District Attorney Eugene Vittone announced today.
Christopher Byrd, 30, is in the Washington County Jail on $200,000 bond. Jebidia J. Keiser Jr. 33, is being arraigned.
Both men are charged with a felony count of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, and a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance.
Mr. Keiser was also charged with a felony count of criminal use of a communication facility. Mr. Byrd faces an additional charge of possession of a firearm, which authorities said he was not permitted to have.
Mr. Byrd's arrest resulted from a Washington County District Attorney Drug Task Force investigation into the distribution of heroin at a home in the 1300 block of Gilmore Avenue in Donora.
In executing that search warrant late Thursday, authorities seized the heroin -- amounting to 2,700 stamp bags -- a .9mm semi-automatic pistol and about $6,400 cash, Mr. Vittone said in a press release.
The task force this morning executed a separate search warrant at a home in the 500 block of North Kings Creek Road in Hanover, where they seized several marijuana plants, oxycodone and hydrocodone prescription pills and a .45 cal. pistol.
"Many people do not realize just how large this county is in terms of land area," Mr. Vittone said in the release. "These two separate investigations are located 50 miles apart yet our task force was able to successfully coordinate and safely execute these warrants within the past 16 hours."
Donora, Charleroi Regional, East Bethlehem and Carroll police departments and the Washington County sheriff's office assisted the drug task force in Donora.
Hanover police aided in the investigation there.mobilehome - breaking - neigh_washington
