Throwing out the first pitch at the Pirates game Saturday is just the start of Susan Koeppen's return to a life of delivery.
Ms. Koeppen, 40, will be at the news anchor desk for the 6 p.m. broadcast Monday. She underwent surgery March 6 to repair a faulty heart valve, the final piece of repair work on a congenital problem that caused her to collapse while running Nov. 20.
Although she made a remarkable comeback from the life-threatening condition and was back at work in January, doctors had long planned this latest surgery.
On May 28, Ms. Koeppen is expected to begin handling both the 6 and 11 p.m. broadcasts.
