Truly interactive TV

Truly interactive TV

Friday, Oct. 6, 2006

I've written several times about "Nobody's Watching," the failed WB series-turned-YouTube phenomenon that's now striving for a prime-time slot on NBC. In the meantime, the show's creators (all "Scrubs" veterans) have created a web site to host all the videos they're filming with the show's lead characters, Derrick (Tarran Killam) and Will (Paul Campbell).

The site launched last week and the intrductory video includes what is supposedly Derrick's cell number, 818-620-3151. I tried it and lo and behold, someone picked up. You can't get much more interactive than that.

David Hollander's "Heartland" -- the TNT pilot he wrote, directed and executive produced -- is complete and goes to the network today for evaluation. TNT has several pilots contending for what will likely be a berth on the prime-time schedule next summer. Odds are they'll make a decision on which one(s) will go to series by January.
