"Mary Poppins" touches down at the Benedum Center for a week as a special Broadway Across America presentation. The family show featuring an extraordinary nanny who prescribes a spoonful of sugar and a bucketful of magic for a beleaguered family has been seen by more than 10 million theatergoers.

"Mary Poppins," with original music plus songs from the Disney movie, has won Tony (for choreographer Matthew Bourne) and Olivier awards and today boasts four productions on three continents.

As with many of the Broadway tours that come through Pittsburgh, it's a homecoming for several cast members. Point Park University graduates Callan Bergman and Jordan Grubb are ensemble members who have appeared with Pittsburgh CLO and Pittsburgh Public Theater, respectively.

Eli Tokash, who, many of you may recognize from Christmases past -- he has played Tiny Tim in "A Musical Christmas Carol" -- and other CLO productions, is making his touring debut as Michael Banks at certain performances.

A PG reader also noted that Brad Broman of Penn-Trafford High School and New York University is the show's assistant company manager.

The "Mary Poppins" tour began on March 25, 2009, and has played in more than 40 cities, including some dancing on the ceiling at the Benedum Center in January 2011. It's back at the Benedum 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $20-$125 at 412-456-4800 or www.trustarts.org.
