Chuck Finder's Steelers site of the week, 11/04/99

Thursday, November 04, 1999

If nothing else, here's a site where you can contort the faces of Carnell Lake and Cowher. Twisted? No, that's just part of the Fun Times page on Gil's Steeler Page, located at http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Midfield/8333/ .

This is a place that offers analysis, game-by-game results over the years and a weekly poll. This week's question -- How do you feel about Kordell? -- contains a nifty pair of multiple choices: No. 2, Bench him for Tomczac (sic), and, No. 5, Trade him for a case of beer. The site also offers Steelers-oriented wallpaper, animation you can download and links to newspapers in other NFL cities.

Gil Robitaille, 41, resides in Canada, befitting his hockey handle of a last name. In between moving there and being born to Browns fans in Ohio, he spent his formative years in Bethel Park and became a Steelers fan for life. "They were pretty bad at the time, but true love is blind," he admitted. Robitaille started his Web site after a debilitating, uh, softball injury put a crimp in his heating and air conditioning business, and he used the time off to launch the site as a way of fulfilling a lifetime goal: "I have always dreamed of being a columnist for a Pittsburgh sports section."

Well, it ain't all it's cracked up to be, what with the e-mails 4-to-1 against you and for Pete Rose after last Thursday's column.

But this site is a hoot.
