Because you Steelers fans seem to live so much in the past, here's a Web site you ought to love: www.steelref.com.
That stands for Steelers Reference Guide, and this place is a trip down the information superhighway's Memory Lane. Old photos, cool black-and-white logos unseen in years, even a "Stylin' Gallery" about Frenchy Fuqua's 1970s haberdashery are found on these Web pages. You'll even catch game-by-game results, rosters and team pictures (when available) from each season, in addition to links to 1999 stats and data.
Eric Wagner of Syracuse, N.Y., spent hours putting up information from various sources and cross referencing it. For instance, you can look up the Steelers all-time roster and see how many players went to a certain school, played a certain position or entered the world on a certain day.
By the way: Happy Birthday, Tunch Ilkin.
"Everyone is so enamored with the immediacy of the Web that they discard the past," said Wagner. Good thing for Steelers fans that he doesn't.
