Favorite Steeler? None other than the best player of all time – Jack Lambert! He was the meanest and the toughest and you couldn’t wait to see who he’d throw to the ground next!
-Bonnie Heinrichs
My favorite Steeler player of all time is Jack Lambert. I was born in Altoona in 1965 so I was little, but I still remember those Super Bowl years as well as the prior losing seasons. Jack Lambert was and still is to this day one of the strongest hitters that ever played that position. He set the tone for that defense. If any player ever personified the city of Pittsburgh by the way he played the game, it was Jack Lambert!
-Dan Glashauser
Jack Lambert, without a doubt

JACK LAMBERT IS MY FAVORITE STEELER FOREVER!!!
#58 IS MY FAVORITE STEELER # FOREVER!!!!
JACK LAMBERT IS MY FAVORITE STEELER HALL OF FAMER FOREVER!!!

LAMBERT !! No one is even close. He was Tough. Dedicated. Hard-working. He epitomized Pittsburgh and the Steelers. Also, I love & respect the fact that he didn't prostitute himself with lots of commercials, tv & or radio shows during or after his career. His goal wasn’t money, fame or adulation.............his singular goal was W's.
-Neil Marcuson
No doubt, JACK LAMBERT. Mean, tenacious, all out all the time! Front teeth missing, steam coming out of his mouth. He epitomized Steeler football. Throwing Cliff Harris to the ground after he pats Roy Geurela on the head for missing a field goal has to be my favorite memory! There is another old clip that is shown quite often, he tackles this running back (may have been Preston Pearson but I'm not sure) gets up and points down at him and says "That otta settle your [butt] down!”
-David S. Hathazy
Jack Lambert. He was a cut above the rest.
-Michael Suley
Jack Lambert because of his great attitude.
-Charlie Huey
#58 Jack Lambert, because he was mean, nasty, and intense! Favorite phrase: PUT A SKIRT ON THE QUARTERBACKS SO WE DON'T HURT THEM.
-Keith E. Welteroth
Jack Lambert played every down at full speed and opposing players feared him. He was the catalyst of the Steelers defensive dynasty in the 70's. When a big play was needed, Lambert often supplied it. He was one for the ages.
-Alan Harper
My favorite all time Steeler is JACK LAMBERT. The greatest linebacker to ever play for the STEELERS.
- RON COSTA
JACK LAMBERT! And in yinz don't get it, tough! (Hope my "Pittsburghese" still works!)
-George Bertha
Favorite Steeler of all time: Jack Lambert for his incredible skill and intensity as a linebacker (I also liked that he was not a seeker of the limelight - he did his job well and that was that). I always considered him a quaker - when he got on the field - the opposing players quaked in their shoes.
-Kristina M Kress
My favorite Steeler of all time is Jack Lambert. He played the game with every bit of his energy, and he never showboated. He was all about the team. I have never seen a more intense athlete in any sport, and when Jack was not able to perform at a level he demanded of himself, he retired. For almost 60 years I have loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, and in that time there have been many great players, but Jack is the best of all time in my book.
-John Pilgrim
Hands down, the great 58, LAMBERT. Need I say more?

JACK LAMBERT. Everyone from that era knows why.
-Brenda
Jack Lambert, because he was smart and he didn't "wear a skirt"
-Kim Charles
My vote goes to Jack Lambert. He epitomized everything a Pittsburgh Steeler should be.
-Jim Sinclair
The reason he is my favorite super bowl 10 against Dallas. Charlie Waters comes up and pats Roy Gerela on the head after missing a field goal and Lambert throws Waters to the ground and lets him know you touch him you deal with me and he set the tone for the game like he did most games.
-Walt Egyed
Jack Lambert
-Anthony Martino

Jack Lambert because he played the game with passion and the way it supposed to be played not whining about cheap hits. A man’s man.
-Kevin P. Morrin
Jack Lambert was THE Linebacker of his era.

Jack Lambert!
He epitomizes what Steelers football is all about.

My favorite all time Steeler is Jack Lambert. Why, by far he was the most feared and meanest linebacker I will ever remember. I was 13 or 14 and I can’t remember what game it was but I will never forget when he picked up and slammed a player from the opposite team when that player was patting Roy Gurrola's head (our kicker) after Roy just missed a field goal. Mean old jack came over from behind and laid that player out on the ground. Today it would have been a personal foul but a well deserved one compared to the limp ones that are called today.
-Greg Thomas
Jack Lambert bar none. He was the real key to the Curtain. Offenses had to know where Jack was because if they ran he was there, if they passed anywhere near the middle he was there. Nothing from the other guys but he was the "Man in the Middle" Just like Pennsylvania was nicknamed the "Keystone" State because it was key to our War of Independence, so is Jack Lambert the "Keystone" of the Steelers.
-Charles Camino
Jack Lambert
-Marilyn Turner
Gotta be Lambert. Just his gyrating at the line would put fear in the opposition and get their attention divided between assignment and him ringin you up. DEFINITION OF A STEELER
-Anonymous
I have not doubts that many players from 70's deserve to be listed, but no one can represent the ferocity and soul of the team more than Jack Lambert the finest linebacker that came from the great 70's defense.
-Edgar Aguilera
My favorite Steeler of all time is 58 Jack Lambert. No one compares to Jack. No one.
-Scott Poole
My Favorite Steeler always comes down to 3 players, Terry Bradshaw, Joe Green, Jack Lambert. To pick one is almost an injustice to the other two players. Terry Bradshaw has always been underrated as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. His name is rarely mentioned with Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, and a few others but he did as much, if not more. Joe Green has been acknowledged as one of the top lineman of all time. I still think not enough is said about his greatness. There is very, very little mentioned about Jack Lambert as one of the great linebackers of all time, because there were so many of them. But when you see & watch how he altered each game by his energy, determination and intimidation of the opponent, you realize how big of a factor he was. Maybe you had to be a Steeler fan and watched every game on TV and heard comments by the announcers to appreciate his impact on the game. We would have never won 4 Super Bowls without him. I guess that could be said about the other two plus a few others could be added to that list. I would love to see and hear him on TV. Having the local media interview him and seeing his face on TV would be a blessing and a treat to all the Steeler Fans. My vote for my Favorite Steeler will go to JACK LAMBERT (alias Jack Splat).
-Bob Puhalla
By far it is Jack Lambert. Jack was a beast on the field and instilled fear in opposing offensive players. His tenacity was a perfect fit for this city. I loved the story that an old quarterback once told (I think it was Len Dawson) where he was sacked and lying at the bottom of a pile of tacklers and he felt pain in his lower leg. When the pile cleared, he realized that it was Lambert gnawing on his leg with missing teeth and all. He will always be a legendary great in my mind.
-Charles R. Swiger
Every time I see another linebacker wearing number 58, either in college or pro's, I think to myself that they must be honoring Jack Lambert.
-Jim Anaple
No question - Jack Lambert!!!!!!
-Sherri Bryan
My favorite Steeler of all time is Jack Lambert! He had the most focused, intense, one-minded discipline on the football field. He understood when the game began, the other team was the enemy. Show no mercy was standard operating procedure. Jack invented the term “mash mouth football”. He absolutely rocked and is a football icon!
-Caryn Lones
Jack Lambert
-Andy Stoughton
He played with so much intensity! Such a hard hitting ( but clean ) linebacker!
-Anthony Albert
Jack Lambert
-Don McCommon
Jack Lambert
-David Bystry
He was a tough, smart, and talented player that had only one goal - WIN. I will always remember Super Bowl X when he took up for Roy Gerella after Roy missed a FG and was being taunted for it. Lambert grabbed the antagonist Cowboy and threw him to the ground, thus seemingly sparked a momentum shift for the Steelers.
