Definitely Franco Harris. Two words: Immaculate Reception! I’ve met him a few times and he’s a nice, personable, good guy that has done more for Pittsburgh than just play football.

He was the heart of the super bowl winners, when it came to the big game Franco was the ultimate money player!

Franco, of course! No player ever carried himself with greater class on and off the field, including in his post-football life. A class act all the way, and the greatest big game ball carrier in football.

When my parents, three brothers and I left West Homestead in the 1960s for California, the Steelers weren't playing so well. Then the 70s came along and with it, Franco Harris and his legs of steel. The Steelers were winning and my father was happy. Watching the games, he didn't miss Pittsburgh and "home" quite so much. When Franco made his Immaculate Reception, it became a Holy Day for our entire family! The modern Steelers are great - but Franco Harris was practically a god!

My favorite steeler of all time is Franco Harris, but not for the reasons most people admire him. When I was in elementary school back in the late '70s, early '80s, Franco was a spokeperson for a reading program that hosted a sort of book reading contest, where you could win prizes for reading the most books. I was just beginning to like reading, and having a Steeler, a big tough guy like him, encouraging me to read and enjoy books was very exciting. I jumped into the program with both feet, and it kick-started a love of books that goes on to this day.

Franco Harris!

My favorite Steeler is Franco Harris. Even though Joe Green became the corner stone that the defense was built around and a year later Terry Bradshaw, Franco was an instant success in his first year. There were so many greats over the years. I remember watching Bobby Lane and John Henry Johnson in the 50's, Roy Jefferson in the 60's, Rod Woodson in the 90's and some good players of today, but the 70's were THE STEELERS. (Because of their four Super Bowl wins) So to choose from so many great players, Franco Harris is at the top of my list.

Franco Harris goes with Steelers like Roberto Clemente goes with Pirates. There were, and still are, a lot of favorite Steelers. Bradshaw, Swann, Stallworth, Ham, Lambert, and Mean Joe Greene, and many more. Franco's infamous catch is right up there with Maz's homerun. Oh, the good 'ol days !!!

Franco Harris is still my favorite Steeler. I saw The Immaculate Reception live on television, and to this day it is still one of football's most famous moments...as I'm sure you know. Mr. Harris was also a class act during his playing days, and is still a good role model for kids.
