Gerry Dulac:OK, sorry for the delay. The owners meetings just broke up and I was down the hall talking with Dan and Art Rooney II. Let's get started.

Sweet Suzie: Whats the word on Blount Gary. Done deal?

Gerry Dulac: No, not a done deal. But I do think the Steelers will act to get something done very quickly on Friday (when Blount vists) or shortly thereafter. And, if it's not MJD, I think it will be Blount.

Guest: Gerry, I see the Steelers draft needs as follows Rd 1 CB RD 2 Receiver Rd 3 RB after that LB and depth. I like Brandin Cooks WR also

Gerry Dulac: I'm kinda with you there. I think it's fairly safe to assume it will be some combo of WR-CB in the first two rounds and defense, probably LB and DL, heavy after that. If the Steelers sign a veteran RB before the draft, I don't think you will see a RB drafted by them until the fifth round. And you are right about Crooks. Mike Tomlin likes him too. Playmaker.

Wild Bill: Would it be a good idea for the Steelers to attempt to trade a 5th, 6th, and 7th rd pick for say a 3rd round pick? Percentages say that a 3rd is much likely to produce a bigtime player. Plus we have the extra 5th and 7th this year.

Gerry Dulac: That sounds nice but try finding a team who is going to trade a third for several low round picks. Not the Steelers wouldn't jump at that chance, but they are also in a position where they need numbers in this draft. So they wouldn't necessarily be willing to part with 3 picks in what everyone consider to be a deep and talented draft.

Mike From PA: Gerry, what do you think of the Steelers drafting WR Allen Robinson from Penn State in the 1st or 2nd?

Gerry Dulac: Won't happen the first, rest assured. He won't go that high. Could be a possibility in the second.

JamesinNYC: Besides football do you get to talk to the Rooney's about other subjects, if so what is a favorite topic?

Gerry Dulac: I do, all the time.

Zack B: They really missed out on Carrington...why didn't they sign him $$$?

Gerry Dulac: Let's not go overboard here. I think he would have been a nice signing, but not at a high price Once they signed Cam Thomas, that ended the chance of signing Carrington too..

Jaggy: Any chance the steelers trade up or down in the first round? They have picks to trade or they could move down and get some more picks in the 2nd or 3rd round

Gerry Dulac: Kevin Colbert said, if anything, this is a good year to trade down because of the depth of talent in the draft. He also said most teams probably think that, too, so I think you will see a lot of teams trading down to maybe pick up extra picks. It wouldn't surprise me if the Steelers did, but only if one of these 4 players weren't available -- Mike Evans, Kelvin Benjamin, Justin Gilbert or Darqueze Dennard.

Brandon: Thoughts on this...trade down a few, nab Dennard, then trade up in rd 2, to get Benjamin (assuming he makes it there)

Gerry Dulac: Sounds good. Dennard scenario might be possible. Might. Benjamin not. He won't be around in the 2nd rd I don't believe.

Kent: Lets hope three quaterbacks get picked before we pick then there may be a chance to get Evans or Ebron. Would you take one of these two over the two top CB Gerry?

Gerry Dulac: I think it's safe to assume 3 QBs will get picked in the top 8 or 10, let alone 14. They would love if Evans slipped to them. I don't think it matters with Ebron.

Wild Bill: Limas Sweed was athletic, tall, fast and dropped a lot of balls at Texas. Kelvin Benjamin was athletic, tall, fast, and dropped a lot of balls at Florida State. If you don't remember history you are doomed to repeat it right?

Gerry Dulac: That is your opinion. Limas Sweed's issues went beyond dropping passes.

TD: Do you think the people in Jacksonville are saying the same things about Hood and we in Pittsburgh are about Carrington? Carrington was a cast off of the Bills just like Hood with the Steelers. Plus he had injury concerns. Why are fans obsessed with free agents?

Gerry Dulac: Probably. And Jax paid $16 million for 4 years for Hood. Imagine the Steelers doing that???? I think fans get wrapped up in the chess game of free agency, not the realities of it. I understand what Denver did, trying to build a dream team to give Peyton Manning one final shot. But in another year or two they will pay the price for that and have to dismantle their team.

Ken: As i recall is not Blunt a bit of a fumbler or did i watch abad game or two of his. Thanks Gerry. Going to the Masters this year?

Gerry Dulac: Did you see his final two games of the year?? Wow. And I am

Dude Tulas: Why do you think RB's are being so undervalued in the draft.Giovanni Bernard made a big difference for the Bengals last year. The steelers could definitely use a good speed guy with hands out of the backfield

Gerry Dulac: I agree they could use a speed guy -- i mean, a real shifty specialty type of back -- who can also catch the ball. But it's not a high-roiund priority. And I'm not sure why they are being devalued, especially this year after seeing how many good teams tried and did run the ball -- NE, Seattle, SF, et al.

DonnyfromDormont: Gerry, I keep hearing Darqueze Dannard might be first round target for Pittsburgh. But a CB who runs a 4.5 forty? In the top half of the first round? Sharmarko Thomas and Terry Hawthorne had faster times.

Gerry Dulac: That's not slow, but it's not the 4.38 or whatever time Justin Gilbert ran. I think that's why you would see the Steelers take Gilbert before Dennard, if it came to that. But I will tell you the Steelers really like Dennard.

JamesinNYC: Why are the Steelers looking at Lewan, would they take a tackel in the first really?

Gerry Dulac: Who said the Steelers are looking at Lewan? Whoever said that doesn't know what theyre talking about. I wouldn't be shocked if the Steelers didn't even take an offensive lineman in the draft, If they do, I'd do it no earlier than that sixth-round compensatory pick, if that.

TS: Love Tomlin's idea to move up the extra point, but have heard no discussion going on. Moot?

Gerry Dulac: Art Rooney II brought it up to the owners this morning, just to get the idea out there. Tomlin's idea wasn't in the form of a proposal here. Maybe another time it will be. I agree. I like the idea too.

Brandon: Have the Steelers though about bringing in Moreno for a visit?

Gerry Dulac: I'm sure they've thought about it and maybe it wil happen if nothing happens with MJD or Blount. But, as far as I know, no.

Wild Bill: Consistency with a system is key in the NFL, which we saw with the Steelers Offense in year 2 of Haley's system. Fans love to think Free agents will put a team over the top, but at what point is having too many players on your team who are not knowledgable with the off/def system hurt more than help?

Gerry Dulac: Agreed. Look, the Steelers know what they are doing. it's hard to argue with their success. Do you know how many teams would love to have back-to-back 8-8 seasons? In Pittsburgh, that's considered a failure, a time for panic. That just goes to show the level of their past success and what they demand.

Gerry Dulac: Well, that's all the time I have today kids. Sorry for the late start but I have this a little short. Chat next week.
