Steelers center Fernando Velasco was placed on injured reserve Saturday and two other offensive linemen were signed after Velasco suffered an Achilles injury in the loss Thursday night to the Baltimore Ravens.

Eric Olsen, sixth-round draft choice of the Saints in 2010, was signed to the 53-man roster as was tackle Rashad Butler, a former third-round pick of the Panthers in 2007.

Olsen had not been on an NFL roster since Sept. 9 when the Saints released him. Butler most recently played with the Browns. He was added to the roster because left tackle Kelvin Beachum also was injured in the Ravens game.

To make room for Butler, the Steelers released defensive back DeMarcus Van Dyke.

Velasco, signed after Week 1 following the season-ending injury to Maurkice Pouncey, started 11 games for the Steelers after being released by the Tennessee Titans near the end of training camp.

Cody Wallace finished the Ravens game at center for the Steelers and likely will fill that role again next Sunday when the Steelers play host to the Miami Dolphins at Heinz Field.
