The Steelers prefer to keep things in the family and that's what they did with several job announcements today.

Dan Colbert, son of general manager Kevin Colbert, and Mike Butler, son of Steelers Hall of Famer Jack Butler, were added to the scouting department. Butler, who began his NFL career as a scout with the Steelers in 1983, will serve as their BLESTO scout. Dan Colbert had been their scouting intern the past two years and will serve as a pro/college scout.

Phil Kreidler, who also started with the Steelers as a scouting intern and has held various scouting jobs with them the past 22 years, was promoted to college scouting coordinator. He replaces Ron Hughes, who will stay on in a parttime role as a senior assistant for college scouting.

Also, Dave Petett, who has been with the team as a scout for the past nine years, will now be a pro/college scout, reversing his priorities from the college area to the pro area. Mark Bruener, previously their BLESTO scout covering the West Coast, will be a college scout.

Earlier in the week, Joe Greene retired as a special assistant for pro and college scouting
