Turns out, the Steelers not only did linebacker Joey Porter a favor, they did him a very big one when they released him Thursday.

Five days after the Steelers released him to save the $5 million due him this year, Porter today agreed to a contract with the Miami Dolphins that will pay him more than twice that in a signing bonus alone.

Porter's contract with the Dolphins, according to the Sun-Sentinel of South Florida, will pay him a $12 million signing bonus and $20 million in guaranteed money as part of a five-year, $32 million contract.

Porter is expected to team with Woodland Hills High School graduate Jason Taylor as the two outside linebackers in Miami's 3-4 defense.

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
