Q: I have read and heard on radio that Shaun McDonald has not done well so far in camp. How can a vet like him be behind Sweed and Wallace this early?

John Cafaro, Orlando, Fla.

BOUCHETTE: For the same reason McDonald remained a free agent until May 1. He wasn't in high demand, but the Steelers looked around and said they needed a fallback position in case Sweed, Wallace, Dallas Baker, Martin Nance or whoever does not cut it. It's Sweed's job to lose and he's grasping it for all it is worth. As a 7-year vet, they also have an idea of what McDonald can do. He has a shot, because they likely will keep five receivers, but he's not high on the list.
