Robert Morris freshmen guard Brandon Herman and forward Darren Washington will transfer, coach Andy Toole confirmed Tuesday.

Neither played a major role for the Colonials this season, with Herman averaging just 1.8 points per game and Washington appearing in only four games.

"I think they're both just looking for a better fit," Toole said.

Herman did play in 30 of 37 games this season, averaging 9.8 minutes per contest. He scored a season-high 11 points in the season-opening 83-57 win against Rider, and again in an 80-69 loss Feb. 2 to Wagner. His 11 points against the Seahawks were a team-high.

Washington spent most of the season working on the scout team. He scored two points against Wagner, and another two in a 69-51 CIT win March 17 against Toledo.

"Absolutely we'll do everything we can to help them," Toole said. "It's no one's fault. It just wasn't a great fit."

Their decisions to transfer was originally reported by Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports on his annual transfer list.

Herman and Washington are the second and third players to leave Robert Morris this offseason. Junior guard Karon Abraham was dismissed March 27 for a violation of team and university rules.

Abraham was suspended and not on scholarship this season but had been expected to return next year. Lone senior Lawrence Bridges is the only player lost to graduation, and the team signed incoming freshman forward Steven Hawkins during the early signing period in November.

That leaves Toole and his staff with three open scholarships for next season.
