Penguins center Evgeni Malkin will be out two to three weeks because of a foot injury, coach Dan Bylsma said today. That means he could be out until around the time the playoffs begin.

"He's had a strong couple of games. To get that news is disappointing," Bylsma said.

Malkin has 23 goals and 72 points in 60 games, including four goals and two assists over his past three games. He ranks second on the team in points.

Bylsma said Malkin got hurt on his first shift in a game Sunday against St. Louis. Malkin played the balance of that game.

Brandon Sutter is expected to play in Malkin's spot on the second line, between wingers Jussi Jokinen and James Neal tonight when the Phoenix Coyotes visit Consol Energy Center.
