The Penguins have signed restricted free agent goaltender Eric Hartzell to a two-year, two-way contract that will pay him $550,000 at the NHL level.

In the spring, the Penguins signed Hartzell, 23, through the end of last season following his run to the NCAA Frozen Four with Quinnipiac.

He was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, which goes to the top college player.

Hartzell, 6-feet-4 and 187 pounds, is likely to begin this season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.
