First-year pro defenseman Simon Despres and winger Colin McDonald today were named to the Eastern Conference team of the American Hockey League All-Star Classic Jan. 29-30 in Atlantic City, N.J. Both are members of the Penguins organization.

Despres, the Penguins' first-round draft pick in 2009, recently played his first 13 NHL games with the Penguins, getting a goal and three assists. With Wilkes-Barre/Scranton he has three goals -- all game-winners -- and four assists in 27 games.

It's the second AHL All-Star honor in as many years for McDonald, who has eight goals and a team-high 20 assists for a team-high 28 points in 32 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Last season, McDonald led the AHL with 42 goals while playing with Oklahoma City.
