Penguins center and team captain Sidney Crosby left practice early today and will not play in the team's preseason game tonight at Chicago because of a sore hip flexor.

It is a recurring problem that forced him to miss a couple of days earlier in training camp, but Crosby and coach Dan Bylsma said the time off the ice is precautionary.

Crosby will travel with the club this weekend and hopes to be able to play Sunday when the Penguins conclude their exhibition schedule with a game at Detroit.
