Throughout the spring, Joe Brown of East Pittsburgh did well fishing the Braddock stretch of the Monongahela River, where he caught this 2-foot, 10-pound channel cat. In the same area, after a 15- to 20-minute fight, he landed a 38-inch, 101/2-pound common carp.
Nice channel and flathead catfish were caught recently in the Mon and Ohio rivers. Last week a 28-inch flathead was taken on a bluegill on the Allegheny River near the mouth of Pine Creek, and 13- and 16-inch channel cats were released on the North Shore.
