Cooper Dietz, 6, of Hays holds a 38-inch flathead that almost pulled him into the Monongahela River near Duck Hollow.

Nice-size catfish were caught throughout the region, with channel cats proliferating at Lake Arthur and Pymatuning Reservoir, and flatheads in the rivers taking kitchen foods, cut bait and live suckers or bluegills.
