Bishop Canevin is three games into its 2013 soccer season and hasn't had to pull the ball out of its own net.

The Class A No. 5 Crusaders (3-0, 1-0) pitched their third consecutive shutout, beating No. 3 Carlynton (0-3, 0-1) at home, 1-0, in Section 3.

Josh Bayer scored the only goal six minutes into the second half.

Bishop Canevin improved to 4-0-1 against the Cougars since 2011.

Other top boys games

• Brian Coyne scored in overtime to lift Class AA No. 2 South Fayette (3-0, 1-0) to a 1-0 victory against host Montour (0-2, 0-1) in Section 5

• Defending WPIAL champion Canon-McMillan (3-0, 1-0), ranked No. 3 in Class AAA, allowed its first goal this season, but got four goals and three assists from Josh Kruczek in a 9-1 Section 5 win against host Brashear (0-1, 0-1). Jake Wilcox added a hat trick for Canon-McMillan.

• Justin Minda scored two goals to lead Class AA No. 3 South Park (1-0) to a 5-0, non-section win against host Southmoreland (0-1).

• Austin Vertullo scored four goals to lead visiting Baldwin (2-0-1, 1-0) to a 6-1 victory against McKeesport (0-4, 0-1) in Class AAA Section 4.

• Chris Zhang scored the winner in overtime to lift Shady Side Academy (2-1, 1-0) to a 2-1 victory against host Highlands (0-1, 0-1) in Class AA Section 2.

• Matt Prezioso scored with four minutes remaining in the first overtime to lift Thomas Jefferson (2-2, 1-0) to a 2-1 victory against visiting Belle Vernon (1-3, 0-1) in Class AA Section 3.

• Abel Carlton notched a hat trick to lead Class A No. 4 Beaver County Christian (1-0, 1-0) to a 4-0 win against visiting Neshannock (0-2, 0-1) in Section 5.

Top performers

• Freedom's Gage Kemerer and South Side Beaver's Jesse Romanchak each scored three goals, but it was Kemerer's Patriots (1-0) that won the non-section game, 8-4, against the Rams (0-2).

• Nick Likar scored four goals to lead Serra Catholic (2-1) to a 7-2, non-section victory against visiting Riverview (0-2).

• Springdale's Taran Roesch scored four goals in a 6-0, non-section win for the host Dynamos (1-2) against Trinity Christian (0-2).

Girls soccer

• Erin Rodgers and Maggie Shope each netted a goal to lead Pine-Richland (3-0) to a 2-1, non-section road win against Class AAA No. 5 Penn-Trafford (1-2).

• Deena DeBaldo notched a hat trick for the second consecutive game to lead Class AAA No. 3 Fox Chapel (2-0, 1-0) to an 8-0 victory against visiting Allderdice (1-1, 0-1) in Section 3.

• Allie Walker scored in overtime to lift Canon-McMillan (1-0) to a 1-0 non-section win against visiting Yough (1-1).

100-goal club

• Mount Pleasant senior Jordan Toohey scored four goals, surpassing the 100-goal plateau, in a 7-4 win for the Vikings (1-0, 1-0) against Laurel Highlands (1-2, 1-1) in Class AA Section 1. Toohey has 102 goals in her career.

Boys' golf

• Thomas Steve shot a 3-under 31 and Nelson Zacur shot an even par 34 to lead Upper St. Clair to a 175-199, non-section win against Mt. Lebanon at St. Clair Country Club.

• Jake Benack shot a 2-under 34 to lead Thomas Jefferson to a 199-203, non-section victory against Moon at Cedarbrook Country Club.

• Zach Taylor shot an even-par 36 to help Baldwin defeat Bethel Park, 203-219, at South Hills Country Club.
