The finals are set for the PIAA boys' volleyball championships, with North Allegheny becoming the last of the four finalists to qualify.

The Tigers earned their second Class AAA title berth in three years with a sweep of District 3 runner-up Central Dauphin in a semifinal match Wednesday at Altoona High School.

"We played well in the first two games, then put ourselves in a challenging position in the third game," said North Allegheny coach Dan Schall. "We had to battle back to win that game."

North Allegheny posted victories in the opening two games and fought from behind to win the third game, 29-27.

North Allegheny recorded 38 blocks, led by Brendan Brown's 11. Tommy Keisling led the Tigers with 15 kills, and Joe Murphy had 34 assists.

North Allegheny, the WPIAL's Class AAA champion for the seventh consecutive year, will face District 1 champion Pennsbury in the title match at 3 p.m. Saturday at Penn State.

"We faced Pennsbury three times, and won five games, during regular season tournaments," Schall said. "But all five games could have gone either way."

Ambridge, the WPIAL's Class AA champion five of the past six years, will face District 3 champion Northeastern in the other title match.
