Sara Perelman placed second in the WPIAL girls' singles tournament last month, but in the team tournament, she and her teammates stood above the rest.
Perelman was one of three Shady Side Academy singles' players to claim straight-set victories Friday, as the Indians earned their fourth WPIAL Class AAA team tournament championship in the past five years with a 3-2 win against Mt. Lebanon at Moon High School.
In addition to Perelman's 7-5, 6-4 triumph against Callie Frey in first singles, the undefeated Indians (19-0) got wins from Kelly Mengel and Alexa Miller.
Mt. Lebanon (16-2) was victorious in both doubles' matches, getting wins from Claire Healy and Jessica Warshaw, and Eva Varotsis and Julia Rose. The Blue Devils were looking for their 14th WPIAL title, and first since 1991.
Allderdice's Elizabeth Haynes and Melanie Levine won the doubles championship with a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Dragons' teammates Emily Wolfson and Rebecca Brown at the Schenley Oval.
Haynes won the title for the second year in a row, as she was part of a tandem that defeated Wolfson and Brown last year.
