Local players named to state all-star teams

Three Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic players were selected to the Class A all-state team, and coach Bob Ravenstahl was selected coach of the year. The all-state players were offensive lineman Ryan Long, defensive lineman Jarred Fragapane and running back-quarterback P.J. Fulmore, who was selected as an athlete.

Ravenstahl guided the team to a 16-0 record and its first WPIAL and PIAA titles.

Three other WPIAL players made the Class A team. Sto-Rox’s Lenny Williams, the WPIAL’s all-time leading passer, was selected at quarterback, Apollo-Ridge’s Tre Tipton at defensive back and Monessen’s Clintell Gillespie as an athlete on defense.

Four WPIAL players were named to the Class AAA team — Thomas Jefferson linebacker Chase Winovich, West Allegheny linebacker Tory Delmonico, Indiana defensive lineman Darrious Carter and New Castle defensive back Malik Hooker.
