Cullen Christian isn't worried that the University of Michigan has endured two disappointing football seasons. He believes the 5-7 Wolverines' fortunes will improve, and he wants to be part of the turnaround.
Christian, a heavily recruited senior defensive back at Penn Hills High School, made a verbal commitment last night to Michigan.
"Michigan is Michigan," Christian said. "They'll get it together."
West Virginia and UCLA were Christian's other top schools. He visited all three.
"Michigan was my favorite the whole time. I didn't have any second thoughts about them," Christian said. "The tradition is crazy up there."
Christian is the third player from the WPIAL class of 2010 to choose Michigan. The others are Hampton defensive lineman Jordan Paskorz and Trinity linebacker-defensive end Ken Wilkins.
A few times over the past few months, Sto-Rox quarterback Paul Jones had wavered a little on his commitment to Penn State. But he is now certain he will attend Penn State. In fact, he will graduate early and enroll at Penn State for the spring semester. He will be able to participate in spring practices.
"I'm going to college to play football, so there is no need for me to stay in school to play basketball and baseball," Jones said. "I might as well get up there [to Penn State] and learn the system."
