Halle Denman reached a milestone Monday night while also helping Blackhawk avenge one of its two losses.

Denman scored 21 points, giving her 1,013 for her career, and added seven steals and five assists as Class AAA No. 1 Blackhawk (17-2, 10-1) crushed visiting Central Valley (13-6, 9-2), 77-51, in Section 2.

In the first matchup Jan. 9, a 71-61 Warriors win, Seairra Barrett and Kiana Law combined to score 56 points for Central Valley.

Barrett went for 30 Monday, but Blackhawk held Law to just nine points.

For Blackhawk, Courtney Vannoy had 17 points and 10 rebounds and Chassidy Omogrosso added 12 points and 10 assists.

Other top girls games

  • Lauren Herron and Karly O'Keefe each scored nine points to lead Chartiers Valley (6-14, 4-8) to an upset win against Class AAAA No. 2 Bethel Park (15-3, 8-3), 48-34. The Black Hawks have scored just 60 points in back-to-back losses.
  • Fighting for the final playoff spot in Class AAAA Section 4, Baldwin (11-7, 5-6) rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit to beat No. 3 Mt. Lebanon (14-5, 9-2), 45-39. Taylor Letender led the Highlanders with nine points.
  • Shaniya Rivers scored 11 points, including the winning bucket with 0.6 seconds left, as Class AAA No. 4 Hopewell (17-3, 9-2) escaped with a 38-36 win against visiting Ambridge (10-8, 4-7) in Section 2. Desirae Ritmiller led the Vikings with 12 points.
  • Class AA No. 1 Seton-LaSalle (17-3, 11-0) led, 24-0, after the first quarter in a 55-23 home win against Steel Valley (1-17, 1-10). Yacine Diop led the Rebels with eight points.
  • Behind 34 points from 10 rebounds by Mallory Heinle, Class A No. 4 St. Joseph (15-4, 8-3) beat No. 3 Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic (14-6, 9-2) for the first time in school history, 80-66. Lizzy Celko added 17 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists for the host Spartans.
  • Kaitlyn Smith scored 16 points to lead Class A No. 5 Quigley Catholic (15-5, 11-0) to a 42-24 victory against host Sewickley Academy (13-6, 8-3) in Section 1.

Girls star of the night

  • Conor Richardson scored 28 points to lift Carlynton (16-3) past host Deer Lakes (6-12), 57-32, in non-section.

Girls hot shots

  • Players with four or more 3-pointers: Sara Getsy, Mars, 4; Samantha Carr, Mohawk, 4; Natalie Pritts, Riverside, 4.

Boys star of the night

  • D.J. Porter, who recently went over the 1,000-point mark, had 20 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals to help City League No. 1 Obama Academy (16-0, 6-0) beat visiting Brashear (2-14, 1-5), 65-27. Porter has 1,025 points for his career.
