Controlling the game from the outset, South Park defeated Bethlehem Catholic 53-38 tonight to win the PIAA Class AAA state title.
Timid at first on offense, South Park (28-2) went on a 10-0 run spanning the end of the first and beginning of the second quarter to take a 16-6 lead. It was never pushed out of its comfort zone the rest of the night.
Senior Shelby Lindsay led the way in the first half, scoring 16 of her team-best 22 points. In the second half, her teammates took over. Using a 9-0 run to put the game away at the end of the third quarter, Lindsey Noss (seven total points), Halie Torris (seven total points) and Allison McGrath (10 total points) all contributed.
