Pitt has hired Iowa State defensive backs coach Troy Douglas to coach the same position for the Panthers, a source confirmed Tuesday.

Douglas informed Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads, a former Pitt defensive coordinator, of his decision Tuesday morning, according to a report in the Ames Tribune.

In that report, Douglas cited the move to Pittsburgh as being closer to his Florida home.

Douglas joined the Iowa State staff in 2012. Before that, he coached the secondary at North Carolina and South Florida. An Appalachian State graduate, he has 24 years of total coaching experience.
