Quarterback recruit Wade Freebeck will sign today with Vanderbilt, not Pitt, a source confirmed Tuesday.

Freebeck, a Davie, Fla., native, had been verbally committed to the Panthers since June and even took a visit to Pitt's campus over the weekend and attended the Pitt/Virginia basketball game.

But new Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason had been making a late push for Freebeck since he was hired Jan. 17, replacing James Franklin, who went to Penn State, and ultimately convinced the three-star prospect to flip his commitment.

Freebeck's decision leaves Pitt with just one quarterback, Adam Bertke of Maria Stein, Ohio, set to officially sign with the rest of coach Paul Chryst's 2014 recruiting class today.
