The Michigan Wolverines cruised past the Duquesne Dukes, 68-52, Monday in the second round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament at Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Wolverines (20-13) advanced to play Bowling Green at 7 p.m. Thursday in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Cyesha Goree led Michigan with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Teammates Shannon Smith and Siera Thompson both chipped in 12 points.
Orsi Szecsi scored 16 points and pulled down five rebounds in the loss for Duquesne (20-13). Wumi Agunbiade added 13 points and dished out six assists, and April Robinson added 11 points.
The Dukes got off to a cold start, scoring only five points in the first eight minutes of the game, and fell behind by 12, 16-5, with 12:05 to play.
After the Dukes got back within five, 19-14, at the 6:55 mark, the Wolverines finished the half with a 17-4 run to take a 36-18 lead.
Michigan led by as much as 32 points in the second half before Duquesne made a late run.
Michigan and Duquesne met for the first time.
