Duane Mitchell hauled in three touchdown receptions and surpassed 1,000 career yards Saturday to help Robert Morris beat Bryant, 24-3, and improve to 2-1 in the Northeast Conference, 4-4 overall.
Paul Jones completed 7 of 14 passes for 120 yards and also led RMU in rushing, picking up 86 yards on 12 attempts.
The Colonial defense came up with three interceptions.
■ Duquesne 21, St. Francis (Pa.) 10: Devin Rahming's 10-yard touchdown reception from Dillon Buechel in the fourth quarter gave Duquesne the insurance it needed to hold off St. Francis and improve to 3-1 NEC (5-3 overall). Duquesne's defense conceded only seven first downs in the game. Running back Ryan Ho played sparingly, running seven times for 16 yards.
■ Washington University 9, Carnegie Mellon 7: After missing an extra point in the first quarter, Washington U. kicker Alex Hallwachs hit a season-long 45-yard field goal with eight seconds left to lift the Bears over Carnegie Mellon in the University Athletic Association opener for both teams. CMU fell to 3-5, 0-1. The Tartans touchdown came in the second quarter when Rob Kalkstein hit tight end Bryce Pardoe for a 7-yard score.
■ Geneva 39, Grove City 7: Geneva put up 495 yards of total offense to improve to 5-3, 4-2 Presidents' Athletic Conference. Grove City feel to 3-5, 1-5. Zack Hayward completed 29 of 36 passes for 286 yards to lead Geneva. Rocco Colavecchia ran for two touchdowns and Zachary Taylor caught two touchdowns.
■ Mercyhurst 19, Edinboro 6: Mercyhurst took advantage of an early safety and controlled the line of scrimmage to improve to 3-3 in the PSAC at 5-4 overall. Edinboro fell to 2-4, 4-5. The Lakers totaled 266 yards on the ground, led by Allen Jones II's 148 yards on 21 carries. Edinboro was held to 148 yard of total offense.
■ Slippery Rock 35, California 17: Slipperty Rock won its sixth-straight game and can clinch the division title -- and a berth in the conference championship game) -- with a victory next Saturday at winless Seton Hill. Nigel Barksdale ran for 125 yards and a touchdown for The Rock.
■ IUP 42, Clarion 14: De'Antwan Williams ran 18 times for 129 yards and two touchdowns to lead the IUP offense that gained 277 yards on the ground.
■ Gannon 40, Seton Hill 21,: Seton Hill led 14-0 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on for its first win of the season. Gannon's Jansen Jones ran 38 rimes for 220 yards and two scores.
