Steelers fall to Buffalo Bills, 24-21

TORONTO -- The Buffalo Bills defeated the Steelers, 24-21, tonight in the second preseason game for both teams.

Rookie quarterback Dennis Dixon ran 47 yards on a bootleg for the Steelers, the only score of the fourth quarter.

Rookie Rashard Mendenhal ran six yards for a touchdown in the third quarter for the Steelers. The Bills scored twice, on a 95-yard kickoff return by Leodis McKelvin and Rian Lindell's 43-yard field goal.

Each team scored a touchdown in the second quarter. Buffalo's came when Trent Edwards threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to tight end Robert Royal. Ben Roethlisberger threw a 40-yard pass that Santonio Holmes caught in the end zone for the Steelers only score.

The Bills led the Steelers 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Edwards pitched a 7-yard scoring pass to tight end Royal to end the Bills' first drive. The Steelers' opening drive of the game ended when Roethlisberger threw an interception.
