Forget having moves like Jagger -- you want to be able to prance like the Pomp!
KDKA's sports director Bob Pompeani mastered a jive quick-step combo for Dancing With the Celebrities of Pittsburgh at the Westin Convention Center Saturday night. He was in one of 15 pairs who participated in the event, which grossed more than $100,000 for Catholic Charities Free Health Care Center and the Kiwanis Club of Pittsburgh Foundation. His dance partner, Sandra Lee Romah, a hip-hop instructor, helped to get them the second place People's Choice prize.
Nearly 700 friends, family and fans filled the ballroom to cheer on the couples. Before the competition, guests enjoyed cocktails and a seated dinner. While they mingled and munched, adrenaline was pumping among the competitors.
Christina Cochran, of #1 Cochran, wowed the crowd as she cartwheeled into the arms of Dmitry Demidov, a dance instructor from Integral Ballroom. They danced off with the People's Choice first place trophy.
Lou Guarino III showed off his super smooth cha-cha moves with Ballroom Central's Denise Kumer.
