Utility relocation work on Butler Street (Route 8) in Pittsburgh will begin tonight, weather permitting.

Single lane alternating traffic will occur through Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Butler Street between One Wild Place and Baker Street as crews from Lineal Industries relocate a gas line.

Flaggers will guide motorists while Pittsburgh Police will be on hand for traffic control.

The work is part of the Route 8 Heths Run bridge replacement project. The existing bridge, built in 1913-14, will be replaced with a new structure, according to PennDOT. Additionally, the project includes reconstruction of 870 feet of Butler Street, improvements on One Wild Place, drainage, and sidewalk and signal upgrades.
