Blairsville woman identified as fatality in motorcycle crash

The Indiana County Coroner's Office has identified a woman killed in a motorcycle accident Sunday night as Kelly Jo Pape, 67, of Blairsville.

Ms. Pape was a passenger on a motorcycle that was traveling south on Route 217 near the intersection of Hill Road outside of Blairsville. The crash was reported at 8:26 p.m.

The driver, James J. Seelig, 29, of Gulf Breeze, Fla., hit a deer, causing him to lose control, throwing both him and the woman from the motorcycle, according to a coroner's office press release.

Ms. Pape, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:07 p.m. Mr. Seelig sustained major injuries and was flown to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown.

Funeral arrangements have not been finalized at this time, according to a coroner's office press release.
