Another hot summer day with light winds means another code orange air quality alert for much of the district on Monday.
The pollution alert is in effect for Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Washington, Westmoreland and Fayette counties.
Sensitive groups, including the elderly, children and people suffering from asthma, heart disease or lung disease should try to minimize their exposure by avoiding strenuous activity or exercising outdoors.
The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh calls for high temperatures reaching the upper 80s across the region, with winds from the southwest around 5 mph and increasing to about 10 mph by the afternoon. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible.
