A Cambria County man died Saturday night in an ATV accident and a companion was injured when the two-seat vehicle went over the side of a bridge, state police in Ebensburg reported.
Paul Joel Taylor, 23, of Mineral Point, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident in Cambria Township, which occurred after 9:30 p.m.
Police said Mr. Taylor and Brianna Rose Fox, 22, of Johnstown, were traveling along an abandoned railway in the ATV and were not wearing helmets, though Ms. Fox was wearing a seat belt. Mr. Taylor reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which went over the side of a bridge, struck a stone retaining wall and landed in the creek.
Mr. Taylor, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained massive head injuries, according to the police report. Ms. Fox was transported to Conemaugh Hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
