A Westmoreland County woman was arraigned this morning on charges that she stabbed her mother in the chest with a kitchen knife.
Krista McManamy, 28, of Derry, is being held in the Westmoreland County Prison on charges of attempted homicide, assault and other offenses, according to online court records.
State police from the Greensburg barracks wrote in a criminal complaint that they were called to M and B Place in Derry late Monday night for a report that Ms. McManamy had stabbed her mother, Ruth McManamy.
Without going into detail, troopers wrote in the complaint that their investigation showed that Ms. McManamy argued with her mother and then punched her in the face. When the elder Ms. McManamy went outside, her daughter followed her, threatening to kill her before stabbing her in the chest with an 11.5-inch kitchen knife, according to the complaint. No information on her condition was available.
Troopers wrote that Ms. McManamy, who did not have an attorney on file this afternoon, confessed to stabbing her mother.
